Iceland was the first country in the world to elect a woman president, and the Running Start delegation got to meet her at the 2018 Forum. The current prime minister, Katrín Jakobsdóttir, helps lead the Global Forum.
The Running Start delegation - mentors and emerging leaders - will have opportunities to engage with the other conference attendees and join special sessions just for the Running Start group.

Participant Experience
As part of the Running Start Delegation, alums will:
Work with a Running Start mentor to refine your elevator pitch and practice networking.
Plan and book your own travel, so as to have a personalized experience in the country (some costs will be covered by the Forum and Running Start; see cost breakdown below).
Network and build connections with amazing women from around the world at the Global Forum
Learn about Iceland's path to gender parity in politics.
Experience Iceland's history, culture, and ecology.

Time Committment
Before the trip
You will attend a 1 hour virtual meet and greet with the whole group before the trip to meet other alums and mentors.
During the trip
Alums and mentors will meet once a day as a group, but the rest of the time you will be free to enjoy the conference, meet amazing women from around the world, do local sightseeing (some of which the conference will organize), and of course engage with your mentor!

After the trip
After we return, we will ask you to complete a survey about your experience. Of course, we hope you will stay in touch with your mentors!
