Serena Saunders

Program Manager

Serena manages Running Start’s Congressional Fellowship, the only Congressional internship and political leadership training specifically for college-aged women, as well as the summer High School Program and one-day Elect Her workshops. Her favorite Running Start memory is getting the opportunity to speak at a 2019 Reykjavik Global Forum main stage plenary session on the need for Millennial and Gen Z workplace empowerment. She is deeply passionate about bringing traditionally marginalized youth into political spaces and previously interned at Feminist Majority Foundation and Pay Our Interns. Serena has a Bachelor of Arts degree in public policy and a Master in Public Policy degree, both from the University of Maryland, and she sat on the University of Maryland School of Public Policy Alumni Board from 2022-2023.

Serena lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland. When she's not updating her Letterboxd diary with her newest watched movies (her goal is to watch 700 in 2024), she's probably

reading culinary history books or trekking to the nearest farmers market.
